Senior council officers resolved to do nothing on Street Drinkers |

This Wednesday (June 11) the Mayor and Cabinet are being asked to approve a report from senior officers justifying doing nothing about the persistent problem of street drinkers, and so undermining the hard work of the police, the local community and officers with more direct knowledge of what is going on. |

In connection with 'Thames Water Troubles', we do understand that water mains and gas pipes that are over 100 years old need to be replaced, and that the utilties responsible for them need to be able to plan and execute their replacements, while the local authority is required to co-ordinate works with everything else impacted. But residents and traders generally only see the disruption, and sometimes holes in the ground bafflingly just left there. (We do understand that there are sometimes reasons ...) |

Without in any way suggesting these are Sydenham Society policies, the images and ideas on this blog from Sydenham Society member Lee Newham are at the very least a challenge to think imaginatively about our High Street. It would be great if Sydenham Traders could find a way to meet up with Lee and continue the discussion. |
