Bell Green Public Inquiry
The Public Inquiry Inquiry will begin on Tuesday 13 June and continue until Friday 16 June. It will then reconvene for one day on Thursday 22 June. Our barrister will therefore need to be available for up to 5 days and, allowing time for preparation and consultation, this has increased our agreed capped fee for his services to a maximum of £4500 plus VAT.

Generous donations received from members following my appeal accompanying our last newsletter have brought in a andsome £2045 so far. The Executive Committee has agreed that, if necessary, a significant contribution from the Society's funds will be put towards the final legal bill.

However, the Executive Committee is hoping that anybody who has considered making a donation, but has not yet got round to it, will now do so. Cheques should be made payable to Sydenham Society and sent as soon as possible to Roger Feather at 71 Hall Drive, SE26 6XL.

Local high street traders, whose businesses would be affected by a large retail park at Bell Green, will be approached for a contribution, as will people living in the area who sent objections to the Council, but who are not members (at least not yet) of the Sydenham Society.

There will be an opportunity to discuss the society's position on Bell Green at the forthcoming Annual General Meeting. Meanwhile, read the Society's Statement of Case, giving reasons why we believe that there should not be a retail park at Bell Green, and other Bell Green information is here
