About the Society
Our ideas for improving the area between Cobbs Corner and Sydenham station resulted in Transport for London funding a scheme to enhance Sydenham Road. We are playing an active role in the community consultation about how to improve Cobbs Corner to Mayow Road.

Enhancements are likely to include more trees and public spaces, improvements to the siting of bus stops and pedestrian crossings, better street lighting and waste management and major improvements to Station Approach.
The Sydenham Society was involved in the successful campaign to bring the East London Railway to this part of south London in 2010. We are now lobbying to ensure sufficient passenger capacity for existing services into London during peak hours and also for key improvements to Sydenham station.
But it's not all hard work! We run a series of events including walks, talks and outings throughout the year. We also publish a quarterly newsletter giving news and views about the area, delivered to your door.
